FREE 4 O’Clock in the Park Concert August 15: HENRY, HARPER & McGEE

Will Henry, Ian Harper and Dan McGee

Will Henry, Ian Harper and Dan McGee have all played traditional music for many years, at community social dances, concerts, festivals, sessions and other gatherings in barns, bars, museums, community halls, theatres and churches.

Fiddler Will Henry and Dan McGee, playing flute, banjo, whistles or harmonicas, helped form the Glenelg Full Moon Country Dance Band in the early 90s and now play regularly with the five-piece acoustic contra dance band Scatter the Cats.

Ian Harper, on uillean pipes and tin whistles, has been a professional musician for the last 50 years, principally playing woodwinds at the Stratford Festival since 1978. Harper also plays in Loreena McKennitt’s touring band. Ian and his wife Donna-Claire, along with a menagerie of animals, live on a farm near Kemble, Ontario.

Henry, of Woodford, and McGee, who lives north of Durham both have backgrounds in folk, country and bluegrass music.

Together, this trio enjoys playing straight up, unaccompanied instrumental Irish, Scottish, Canadian and Appalachian dance music, as well as their own compositions in those traditional styles.
